1. Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, benefits the skin by reducing inflammation, regulating sebum production, improving skin barrier function, minimizing pore appearance, and brightening skin tone. It is effective in addressing blemishes, calming redness, reducing oiliness, and promoting a smoother, more even complexion. Niacinamide can reduce the overall inflammatory response, resulting in fewer pimples and post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.
2. Mandelic acid helps regulate sebum production to unclog pores and reduce inflammation. Mandelic acid is a larger alpha hydroxy acid molecule so it does not disrupt the barrier.
3. Zinc PCA has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that reduce redness and swelling around breakouts and limit acne-causing bacteria. It can also help regulate oil production, which can be effective for managing acne.
4. Totarol creates an environment that starves bacteria of any environment for it to survive in, while not harming any of the other useful microorganisms. In the case of bacteria on the skin, Totarol is active against acne-causing bacteria and is one of the rare phytochemicals active against pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (Staph), Streptococcus (Strep) and Cutibacterium acnes (C. Acnes). It also has high antioxidant properties that have been tested and proven to be seven times more effective than Vitamin E.
